Sam Watts, to qualify for GB age group team. Only way to reach my potential is with a coach who has the expertise in Triathlon and can guide me correctly
What do you value about the coaching that you didn’t have before - and how is it going so far?
I would aimlessly train with no structure, ABC coaches me to be a triathlete, not a Swimmer, Cyclist runner
What was the most difficult thing to get used to when you started the coaching process - and how do you feel about it now?
Hard to believe but the going ‘easy’ was the hardest to get used to, as I would always train to exhaustion which would bring injuries, body without doubt feels the benefits of that now
How does the coaching fit in with your lifestyle – and do you have a lot to balance in your life?
Most definitely, a father of 2 and comfortably fit training into family life
What are the main things you have learnt in your time as a coached athlete with Ali?
To train all 3 disciplines as a triathlete and not individuals
Do you feel like you have developed as an athlete since starting the coaching process, if so, how?
Yes absolutely, I can see this improvement in training sessions and most importantly, race results
Why did you choose Ali to be your coach and what do you think about him?
Joined after having coached swimming sessions, saw how enthusiastic and knowledgeable Ali was and knew if I wanted to see how far I can go, Ali is the person that will get me there
